The Gospel According to Mark - Week 11

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 15, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 12. Jesus taught a parable about a vineyard and tenants that acted more like owners than stewards. This contrast of ownership vs. stewardship continues through the rest of the chapter. Israel forgot their responsibility to steward God’s resources and became selfish in their ownership of worldly possessions. Jesus exposed this sin by connecting it to their lack of Bible knowledge. This message applies to us because we are also stewards of God’s resources and ambassadors for His kingdom. Each person will give an account before God on how faithfully we managed His resources and obeyed His words. Our prayer is that you will not be embarrassed on that day.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 10

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 8, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 11. Jesus entered Jerusalem to celebrate His final Passover and cursed a fig tree for being unfruitful. The fig tree was a symbol of Israel and their rejection of Jesus as king. The tree was covered in leaves but had no signs of bearing fruit. In the same way, Israel was covered in the leaves of religion but lacked the spiritual fruit that comes from maturity in God. This chapter exposes our individual spiritual hypocrisies and convicts us to repent.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 9

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 1, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 10. In this chapter, Jesus teaches on divorce, children, wealth, and power. The kingdom of this world has a way of thinking about these things, but God’s perspective is different. Followers of Jesus are instructed to view marriage as a covenant, children as a blessing, wealth as God’s provision, and power as leverage to serve others. Seeing these principles from heaven’s perspective requires our eyes to be opened through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our prayer is that the cry of Bartimaeus becomes our prayer, “Heal our blindness so we can see things the way You do!”

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 6

Pastor Marshall Ochs | February 9, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 7. In these verses, Jesus confronts the Pharisees about replacing God’s commandments with man’s tradition. This practice was popular at the time of Jesus and it is still popular today. Many Christians have a difficult time discerning the difference between authentic Biblical obedience and traditions passed down by men. It is important to ask the Holy Spirit to examine our hearts and expose our allegiance to tradition because we can’t be faithful to traditions and faithful to God at the same time.
