1 Corinthians - Week 2

Pastor Marshall Ochs | October 20, 2019

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from 1 Corinthians 3-4. In these chapters, Paul continues to correct this young church about treating leaders like celebrities. Paul instructs the church that leaders are more like waiters at a restaurant, contractors building a home, masters of a house, or fathers. This was an important message for the church in Corinth, and it is an essential message for us today. Leadership is about serving God’s people and managing God’s resources, not being served and hoarding resources for personal wealth.

1 Corinthians - Week 1

Pastor Marshall Ochs | October 13, 2019

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from 1 Corinthians 1-2. The church in Corinth has started comparing teachers and baptisms and treating leaders in the church like celebrities. Paul reminds them that this is not how he taught them to live as new Christians. Their decisions to embrace this celebrity culture is a sign that they are living ungodly lives and should repent. This message reminds us that in God’s family, there are no celebrities, only servants.

Pride and Possessions

Preston Scott | October 6, 2019

In this message, Preston teaches from 2 Kings 5. In this passage, the prophet told Naaman the leper that he could be healed if he went into the Jordan river seven times. This story shows us that Naaman’s pride had to be washed away with his leprosy and the prophet’s servant needed to be cleansed of a desire for possessions. We should use this story to examine our hearts for the sins of pride and possessions as well.

While we sing, we are encouraged to show outward expressions of worship like shouting with joy, lifting our hands, bowing down on our knees, playing instruments, and dancing. This message is designed to give our church a Biblical foundation for corporate worship and invite everyone to participate.

A Worshiping Church - Week 2

Pastor Marshall Ochs | September 8, 2019

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches about worship from John 4 and Acts 16. In these chapters, Jesus shows that worship is not restricted to a location or specific posture, and Paul experiences a miracle in prison while he uses music to worship Jesus. These stories remind us that worship is not something that happens when you attend a church building. Worship is ascribing worth to Jesus, with your everyday life and circumstances, to reflect the awe of God in a broken world.
